The gateway to central Illinois' Amish country, Arcola's Green Mill Village is a mixed-use development that will bring together destination and regional travelers with the community in a vibrant future.

Green Mill Village Announces New Theatre in Arcola

Green Mill Village is excited to announce a partnership with Blue Gate Musicals to develop “Green Mill Village Theatre.” Green Mill Village Theatre promises to bring Arcola and surrounding communities a fun, family-friendly entertainment option and provide area visitors another entertaining evening option. The first production, Half-Stitched, will premiere in June 2015.

Performances will take place at the Best Western PLUS Green Mill Village Hotel & Suites Convention Center.

Half-Stitched is based on the best-selling novel by Wanda Brunstetter, who is acclaimed as “one of the founders of the Amish fiction genre.” The Broadway-style musical, comedy/drama will have the audience bent over laughing and then fighting back tears detailing intriguing relationships and unforgettable melodies as it shares the story of an Amish widow spending a weekend with ‘six loose threads’ of personalities learning a lot of quilts and themselves.

The Green Mill Village development team thought Blue Gate’s offerings would be a perfect mix for Green Mill Village community and destination travelers that come to this region. Blue Gate Musicals was drawn to the hospitality of the Arcola and Amish community in Central Illinois when selecting their next theater location. “We appreciate the beauty, convenience and talent in Arcola,” said Dan Posthuma, President of Blue Gate Musicals. “We hope that the Green Mill Village Theatre and our productions will be one more reason for tourists to visit and a great source of entertainment for the entire community.”

“Green Mill Village Theatre will showcase the talent and hospitality of our communities to visitors from around the state,” said Cassie Yoder, Green Mill Village Marketing & Development. “We are delighted to welcome Blue Gate Musicals to Illinois in developing Green Mill Village Theatre. Making Green Mill Village a destination for our community and regional visitors is something we have diligently pursued and we are delighted to help make this happen.”

Tickets will go on sale for the first production, Half-Stitched, in December. Groups are encouraged. For more information, please call 217/254-4012.
